Melody Eckroth and her weaving life
Melody Eckroth keeps her heart close to the earth. She sources most of her basket materials locally - willow, tree roots and grasses.
The baskets represent Melody’s deep love of the ancient language of symbols.
These worldwide pictures are the basis of a communicative language that heralds back to at least Neolithic times into our more present time. These images can be found in woven fabrics, stone carvings and largely viewed in Marija Gimbutas’s book “The Language of the Goddess”.
